A handmade dichroic glass pendant in vibrant blue and silver.
Dichroic glass is created by vaporising ultra-thin layers of different metals or oxides by an electron beam in a vacuum chamber. As the vapour condenses on the surface of the glass different colours may be obtained.
The technique was originally developed by NASA for use in the space industry, before its possibilities for use in art glass were realised.
The dichroic glass is fused under clear glass to create the pendant, which measures 3 cm wide x 4.5 cm long and is hung from a 16" silver plated chain.
It comes in a gift box and is handmade by Stained Glass by James.
